Nord-Pas-de-Calais is the northernmost region of France, and is the original arrival point for visitors and expats crossing the Channel from England.
Unlike some of France's other regions, with their confusing and occasionally messy mix of geographic departments, Nord-Pas-de-Calais is simplicity itself. There are only two departments: Nord (North) and Pas-de-Calais (Strait of Calais).
