Quoted on the NBC evening news September 16, 2010, South Carolina Republican Senator Jim DeMint referred to Christine O’Donnell’s upset victory in the September 14, 2010 Delaware Republican primary stating that as Senator, she will “help balance the budget and repeal Obamacare.”

Repealing the March 2010 health care reform law is rapidly becoming a major issue not only for Republicans anxious to retake the House, but for Blue Dog Democrats that want to keep their seats. On September 16, 2010, Mississippi Rep Gene Taylor became the first Democrat to co-sponsor Republican legislation to repeal the law, telling Fox News, “I didn’t vote for it, people don’t want it…”

Already in May 2010, The Hill (May 27, 2010) reported that Republican leaders had introduced a measure to repeal the health care act. According to the article, “Democrats laughed off the GOP effort to repeal the law.” The health care issue features prominently on the official website of the Tea Party Movement, telling viewers in a video that everything from a tax on soda to charitable donations and the imposition of a national sales tax will pay for the health care provisions.
